Laura’s Adlerian therapy techniques
Adlerian therapy uses the idea of “openness” to change. It encourages the patient to identify problem behaviors and actively change them. Adlerian therapy can be used by individuals, couples, or families. But to be effective, it must be conducted by a mental health professional who understands this theory.
The theory behind Adlerian therapy is that early experiences are responsible for shaping the current problems we experience. It is important to confront these early memories, which can be challenging for some people. However, the goal is to help patients move past these painful memories and move forward.
Laura Ross earned her Bachelors of Science in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and is currently interning at Serenity Mental Health. Using an integrated holistic approach, Laura applies Adlerian therapy techniques to help each individual find peace and harmony in their life. As a therapist, Laura works to foster a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment that allows clients to express their feelings without fear of judgment.
Adlerian therapy has four major stages. Each stage focuses on a different aspect of a person’s life. It emphasizes the importance of a person’s connectedness to others, as well as their contribution to society. Clients are encouraged to recognize their strengths and build confidence in their abilities.
